About Slotbok

Wooden kits that slot together without glue

Slotbok makes laser-cut 3D wooden model kits: flat MDF and plywood parts that push together without a drop of glue. We design, cut and pack every kit ourselves in Gauteng, then film the build so a learner can watch it once and get it right the first time.

Built around the CAPS Technology syllabus

The core of the range is the CAPS Technology school projects for Grades 7 to 9: the jaws of life, the electromagnetic crane and the cell phone tower in Grade 7, the mine headgear in Grade 8 and the bridge in Grade 9. Next to them sit 3D wooden puzzles like our T. rex skeleton, model aeroplanes, model cars and vehicles, and wooden toys like the marble run.

How a kit is made

  1. Drawn. Every model starts as a drawing in our own workshop, checked against the CAPS Technology syllabus, so a Grade 7 to 9 project lands exactly where the marks are.
  2. Cut. The laser cuts each part from 3 mm MDF or plywood, so tabs and slots meet within a fraction of a millimetre and nothing needs sanding.
  3. Test-fitted. Before a kit is packed, we build it. Every part is slotted together once by hand, then labelled, so no learner meets a piece that will not fit.
  4. Filmed. Each kit comes with a short 3D animation of the whole build, so you can watch it once before you touch a single piece.
  5. Packed. Sheets, labels and instructions go into one flat box in Gauteng, and ship to homes, schools and shops across South Africa and Namibia.
